Mexican Actress Shot Dead Outside Sporting Complex

Mexican actress and singer Tania Mendoza (42) was shot dead on Tuesday while she was waiting to pick up her 11-year-old son outside a sporting complex in the state of Morelos.
According to local media, the incident happened infront of the Estrada sports center in the city of Cuernavaca, also known as the Los Felionos field, after 6:00 pm.
It is not the first time that Mendoza suffers a violent act. In 2010 she was kidnapped with her husband and son and later received death threats, according to a local newspaper.
Tania was waiting with other parents when two armed man arrived in a motorbike.
It's not yet clear who was behind the murder, not any posible motive too. One of the attackers shot her multiple times before escaping with his accomplice.
The office of the Attorney General told Efe news agency the case would be investigated as femicide, although no details were given.
Femicide is increasingly a cause of concern but despite a growing movement to raise awareness of the issue, authorities have been unable to stop a rise in the killings.
Mendoza rose to fame in 2005 after a lead role in the film La Mera Reyna del Sur.
She had also appeared in a number of soap operas but i recent years was dedicated to her career as a singer with recording five albums. The son of the actress is under care of his father.
Mexico has suffered long with high levels of crime, according to official data, last year, at least 10 women were murdered in the country everyday.
