Steven Peter Devereux Smith known as Steve smith is an Australian cricketer. He was born on June 2 1989 in Kogarah, New South Wales in Australia. Steve is the former captain of the Australian national team ,2015-2018. He is considered as one of the best batsman of modern times across all the formats.

According to the ICC Player Rankings Smith is consistently rated as one of the top-ranked Test batsmen in the world. Smith has been called the 'best since Bradman' due to his distinctively high Test batting average. He could generate a lot of turns and was handy with the bat in the lower order.

 

Steve Smith made his debut in the 2007-2008 season and first appeared in One Day International in February 19, 2010 vs West Indies at Melbourne. He started batting in 2013 Ashes where he displayed better performance and from thereon his graph went upward. His reputation got a big hit when he faced a one-year ban from international cricket after being involved in the ball-tampering incident. But Steve Smith came back with more resilience with his excellent performance in the 2019 ICC World Cup and the Ashes.

 

Steve moved to England at his age of 17 and joined a cricket club there. Later he moved back to Australia and became a member of the Australian cricket team to play in the ‘Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Steve joined the 'Big Bash League' and Australian first-class cricket, following which he made his international debut in a Twenty20 (T20) match against Pakistan in February 2010. He likes to play flick shots. His performances in the 2009-2010 domestic season where he showed a fast class batting avarage of 50+, and a bowling avarage of 45+. Later with the help and praised by Shane Warne he took 7 for 64 in the 2nd innings of the final match of the season against South Australia.

Steve was born to Peter and Gilian Smith and raised in Sydney. He get married to Danielle Willis on September 15 of 2018. Smith is 5 feet and 9 inchs high and has light blue eyes. He believes in Christianity (Catholic).

 

Photography, scuba diving, watching tennins, rugby and baseball are his hobbies. His favourite musicians are Florence + The Machine, Little Birdy, Vampire Weekened, La Roux, The killers etc. Steve is a fan of horse racing and owns a share in 4 racehorses.

Works

Steve Smith was the leading wicket taker in the KFC Big Bash Tounament in 2008. In the 2014-15 Test Series vs India he scored centuries in all four first innings of the home tests and in this series he became the 45th Captain for Australia.

He has consistently performed well in all the formats, especially in Test cricket, and has been ranked as the top Test batsman in the world in 2015, 2016, and 2017. He has an amazing Test batting average of 61.37.

Awards

 

Steve won the prestigious Allan Border Medal in 2015 and also won the ICC Player of the year and ICC Test Player of the year in the same year.

 

 

Education

 

Steve went to Alfords Point Primary School. He also studied at Meni High School in Sutherland Shire and is a high shool dropout.
