Effective Strategies for Dengue Prevention

1. Daytime Protection:

_Dengue mosquitoes are active during the day. Use measures to avoid mosquito bites, especially in the morning and afternoon.

2. Wear Protective Clothing:

_Wear long sleeved clothing, thick pants, and socks to prevent mosquito bites.

3. Use Mosquito Nets:

_If you're resting during the day, use mosquito nets, preferably ones treated with repellent.

4. Close the Windows:

_Close the windows in morning and evening time to be protected from mosquitos.

5. Apply Mosquito Repellents:

_Use repellents containing DEET, Picaridin, or IR3535 on exposed skin.

6. Eliminate Breeding Sites:

_Prevent mosquito breeding by emptying and cleaning flower pots and any other surface which is containing water.

7. Keep Surroundings Clean:

_Dispose of trash and unused items that can collect water and become mosquito breeding sites.

8. Personal Protection Indoors:

_Use bed nets and screens in living and sleeping areas to keep mosquitoes away.

9. Medical Care:

_If you suspect dengue or experience symptoms immediately seek medical care.

10. Avoid NSAIDs:

_If diagnosed with dengue, avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen and aspirin, as they can worsen bleeding complications.

11. Rest and Hydration:

_If infected, rest and drink plenty of fluids to aid recovery.

12. Dengue Vaccine:

_While limited, a vaccine named Dengvaxia is offered in some countries. It's most effective for those who have had dengue before.

By adapting these steps, you can significantly reduce your risk of contracting dengue and contribute to preventing its spread in your community.

In the battle against dengue, staying informed and taking steps matters a lot. When we all work together and follow these crucial steps, we build a strong defense against dengue. This doesn't just keep us safe, but it also helps everyone in our community stay well.
